The AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is a subject matter expert delivering the public cloud infrastructure used to deliver public cloud hosted managed services to customers. You will have a high customer focus being actively involved in the support and development of the service including: the resolution of support cases, live service monitoring and maintenance, new service provision and continuous improvement projects. You will provide high quality operational and technical support to customers and will be responsible for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning.

Job Description:

This highly technical, hands-on engineer focuses on actively being involved in the support and development of the environments, including the resolution of support issues, live service monitoring and maintenance, new service onboarding, and continuous improvement projects. You will provide high-quality operational and technical support to customers and will be responsible for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning. You must have excellent technical knowledge across both AWS and public cloud technologies. You should have a good knowledge of security practices working in a regulated environment, and the flexibility to work out of hours will be required, including on-call.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced AWS Cloud Engineer with deployment and support delivery experience to provide L1/L2 analytical incident management and resolution alongside project-based deliverables across a large, expanding customer base to ensure quality service delivery and Service Level Agreement compliance.

What you will be doing:

  • Enjoy working with a collaborative team of varied disciplines, skills, and experience.
  • Contribute to the planning of application/infrastructure releases and configuration changes.
  • Provide support requests from customers by phone, email, and online making use of the call logging system.
  • Interact with key internal stakeholders and external third-party vendors to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems.
  • Provide input to administering and maintaining all production and development environments.
  • Create detailed technical and procedural documentation (e.g., architectures, configurations, and setups).
  • Design appropriate metrics for reporting on key performance and quality indicators, particularly in terms of in-depth trend analysis.
  • Service transition and complete Operational Acceptance (OA) of new customer services implementation and delivery of AWS projects.
  • Training and Development – Learn about the latest public cloud products and services and increase your knowledge.

What we are looking for:

  • AWS: Relevant experience in AWS cloud deployment, automation, networking, and security technologies in cloud and hybrid environments.
  • AWS Certified: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
  • Operational experience supporting AWS cloud technologies and services at an enterprise level, particularly with in-depth knowledge of the following:
  • AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud)
  • Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service)
  • Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service)
  • Amazon VPC (Virtual Private Cloud)
  • AWS Lambda
  • Amazon API Gateway
  • Amazon CloudWatch
  • AWS Elastic Load Balancing
  • AWS Security Tools (AWS Shield, AWS WAF, etc.)
  • AWS CloudFormation or Terraform for IaC (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Experience with cloud security and compliance (e.g., AWS Security Hub, AWS Config, AWS GuardDuty, etc.)
  • Automation and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Shell, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Experience working with agile methodologies and tools such as Jira or Confluence.
  • Experience working with IT Service Management tools (e.g., ServiceNow).

Desired Skills and experience

  • Experience with infrastructure migrations to the AWS Cloud.
  • Experience with other public cloud technologies and services (e.g., Azure, GCP).
  • AWS or other cloud certifications.
  • Any exposure to Agile working practices.
  • Experience with deployment and management of AWS PaaS database technologies (e.g., Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora).
  • Experience of hardening IT infrastructure based on security audits, standards, and industry best practices (e.g., vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and ISO27001/1718).
