Capita IT Services and West Dunbartonshire Council create a 21st century learning environment for 4,000 pupils

Capita IT Services today announces the successful completion of its £1 million project with West Dunbartonshire Council to install LAN infrastructure and Internet Protocol Telephony (IPT) voice systems into three new secondary schools in West Dunbartonshire.

The project was part of West Dunbartonshire Council’s £84 million Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme to replace three of the authority's secondary schools with new, fit for purpose, state-of-the-art schools; Clydebank High School, St. Peter the Apostle in Clydebank and Vale of Leven Academy in Alexandria, which opened to students at the beginning of this academic year, following the demolition of the old school buildings.

Capita IT Services was appointed to install LAN and IPT systems to deliver high performance ICT services to the new schools. The infrastructures were successfully installed in just six weeks across all three schools to support 4,000 pupils and 460 staff.

David Clark, head of service (resources), West Dunbartonshire Council Education Services, commented: “We are delighted with Capita’s delivery of our programme. The manner in which they approached the challenge was impressive, as was their commitment to deliver. Timelines were extremely tight for everything to be fully functioning and complete on time for the schools going in. Capita did a great job.”

Noel McNulty, strategy and business development director, Capita IT Services, said: “Capita IT Services is delighted to have successfully delivered this project with West Dunbartonshire Council - and in record time. The new infrastructures mean pupils will benefit from an enhanced and modern learning environment. It demonstrates our commitment and expertise in providing flexible, fit for purpose ICT infrastructures to support modern learning across Scotland”.
