Capita IT Services discusses green IT with Green IT Expo delegates

At this year’s Green IT Expo held at the Barbican Exhibition Centre, Capita IT Services took the opportunity to discuss key areas concerning green IT with visitors to its stand.  Nearly half, 46%, said they believe it is possible to have all green IT in their organisations. The same percentage have factored green IT into their strategy for 2010 and the remaining 54% have partially factored it in. No-one stated that it hadn’t been considered at all.

Capita IT Services gained a snapshot of the mood among professionals at the event and also found that 69% of those asked felt that their organisations’ green credentials are important to their customers. This may be why many organisations seem to be leaning towards green IT solutions.

In light of the current economic climate, Capita IT Services also asked if IT professionals felt that the recession has encouraged or discouraged investment in green IT. The majority, 69%, felt that the recession has encouraged the implementation of greener IT, possibly because of the cost savings that may be realised in the long run.
