Capita, the UK’s leading outsourcing company, raised £68,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support this weekend as a result of its annual team fund raising event, Capita Challenge. The fifth annual Capita Challenge was held at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire, where 440 Capita employees, business partners and clients took part in a range of sponsored physical and mental challenges.
The Capita fundraisers divided into teams of four to compete in challenges ranging from kayaking and climbing to brain games, guided by Shakespearean themed clues. The top fundraising team raised a little over £4000 in sponsorship for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“This is the fifth Capita Challenge fundraiser and we were pleased to not only have record numbers of employees but also partners and clients competing this year. Some of the activities were very physical, but it was not just about being the most fit or most competitive. It was about harnessing team-spirit to achieve a shared goal and raising as much money as possible for Macmillan”, commented Shona Nichols, corporate communications director of Capita.
Shona added, “Macmillan is a fantastic cause, and was voted for by employees to be Capita’s partnering charity for two years. This is now the second year of our partnership and Capita aims to raise £1 million for Macmillan.”
Rachel Gascoigne, corporate account manager, from Macmillan said "Everyone at Macmillan wants to thank and congratulate those Capita employees who took part in this year’s Capita Challenge and trust that they really enjoyed the day. £68,000 is a fantastic sum of money to have raised and everyone at Macmillan is deeply grateful. This is a great contribution to the target of £1 million that the two year partnership aims to raise and will help us provide medical, practical, emotional and financial support not only to people affected by cancer, but also their families, carers and communities."
Capita Challenge was kindly sponsored by Capita suppliers TNT Post and Radley Yeldar.
