Capita donates the Group’s redundant IT equipment to the ‘Digital Pipeline’ initiative – a charity that aims to advance education and relieve poverty in the developing world by providing access to information and communications technology. As one of the founder members, Capita was invited to take a place on the Board of Trustees.
Digital Pipeline aims to:
- Provide low cost refurbished computers to schools and community centres in developing countries
- Maximise the impact and benefits for the local community through capacity building, training opportunities, skills and knowledge transfer. They are also working in partnership with Remploy to create employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
- Forge innovative public-private partnerships
- Create opportunities for expressions of corporate social responsibility.
Since the initiative began in 2006 Capita has donated nearly 12,000 pieces of equipment to the Digital Pipeline Service.
